Founded in 2010, Beyond Differences® is the leading expert and only organization in the United States singularly focused on ending social isolation and creating a culture of inclusion for youth. Beyond Differences is student-led and committed to empowering youth to become activists by helping them build awareness and leadership skills related to acceptance and belonging. We provide schools’ Transformative SEL curriculum to help end social isolation and loneliness and build community.
The National Youth Programs department is growing. Working both in-person and virtually, we are empowering youth by training them to write compelling curricula and engage in grassroots leadership. We are focusing on creating engaging and impactful social/emotional development, mental health, and wellness curriculum as well as an on-the-ground grassroots youth social justice leadership training
Position Overview
The National Youth Programs Associate is responsible for managing the daily operations of our programs serving young people across the nation and those who serve on our National Teen Board (NTB). Your work will have a direct impact on uplifting marginalized children across the nation. This position is a powerful combination of project management and direct service. You will play an essential role in building meaningful relationships with impassioned teen activists as well as be central to project managing the construction of social justice curriculum.
Ideally the National Youth Programs Associate will have a background in education/youth development (6-12th grade students) and project management. The Associate will have a high level of integrity, enthusiasm, and curiosity. You are dependable and enjoy working with youth to cultivate safe spaces for them to thrive. You excel in an environment where you can work both effectively independently and collaboratively with others. You are detail-oriented and have a “get things done” attitude.

Position Responsibilities:
National Teen Board & Curriculum Design
- Work directly online/in-person with young activists to coordinate the creation of SEL curriculum
- Manage multiple Google Classrooms
- Coordinate all messaging to the NTB on meetings, speaking events, and academies
- Manage the admissions process for new applicants
- Work directly with Director of National Youth Programs in the creation of all curricula
- Manage on-time delivery of NTB created/reviewed materials
- Oversee data collection and beta-test lessons before mass distribution
- Work with grants department to collect and report program outcomes
Activist Academy + Activist Accelerators
- Work directly with youth to ensure belonging and the establishment of a vibrant learning community
- Oversee all logistics of the planning and on-site execution of program
- Arrange all student travel in a timely manner and with great sensitivity
- Assure DEI for all students, staff and faculty attending these leadership training programs
Administrative
- Develop and create engaging content, branded images, and stories for email, website, and social media platforms consistent with our branding and centering student voice.
- Support in the design of all curricular support materials, including workbooks, lesson plans, and sideshows
- Manage department/communications calendar and collaborate with other departments
- Oversee and work with the Admin dept on all contracts with speakers, facilitators, and consultants
- Manage all shipments to teens and Activist Accelerator schools
- Track and record all metrics/data in Salesforce
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Candidate resides in broader San Francisco Bay Area (exceptions may be made for right candidate)
- Communications/marketing experience
- Program recruitment experience
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Mandarin and/or Arabic
- Google Classroom experience
- Curriculum development experience
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of program management experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of education and/or youth development experience, particularly within marginalized communities
- Strong, independent triage and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to change course and meet deadlines
- Professional and dedicated to serving as a role model to youth as well as a representative of the organization
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and people)
- Proficiency in hosting Zoom meetings/webinars
- Coordination/event planning experience
Work Environment
- Must be able to work remotely and have a healthy and quiet work-from-home area with reliable internet.
- Must be able to manually operate and use a computer and phone.
- Must be able to work at a computer for a prolonged period of time.
- Involves out-of-state travel (about 3-4x per year).
- Involves local travel to schools and/or program meetings, access to a vehicle may be required.
- Must reside in the broader San Francisco Bay Area and be able to commute to Marin County (San Rafael) when needed (average 1x per month).
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changes (“start-up” type of department-expect changes).
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a full-time, 40-hour a week, non-exempt, at-will position with a 90-day new employee introductory period. The hourly rate range for this position is $31.25 to $32.69 per hour (towards an annual salary range of $65,000 to $68,000).

Position Overview
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for promoting our programs and campaigns. The Social Media Coordinator will work closely with each department to create branded content and stories. This position needs a creative and organized storyteller with excellent communication skills. Beyond Differences utilizes Constant Contact to manage our social media communications. We have a following on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The candidate must have knowledge and a presence on most of these platforms and/or can effectively master them.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and curate engaging content, branded images, and stories for social media platforms
- Maintain a unified brand voice across different social media
- Share/present new ideas for content creation at communications meetings
- Promote and engage with influencers and organizations that are related to Beyond Differences’ work and mission
Background Qualifications
- 1-3 years experience with B2C social media marketing or content development 1 year of working in the nonprofit or social good sector
- Advanced skill with Google G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides), Dropbox, Canva
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier Pro) or equivalent digital media editing tools, a plus
- Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and management tools
- Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the digital content and social media space.
- Top-notch oral and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

Compensation & Benefits:
This is a part-time, up to 20 hours per week, at-will, 3-6 month contracted position (with possible extension). The hourly rate range for this position is $27-29/hour.
