Beyond Differences is student-led and committed to empowering youth to become activists by helping them build awareness and leadership skills related to acceptance and belonging. We provide schools’ Transformative SEL curriculum to help
end social isolation and loneliness and build community.

Position Overview

The Professional Development Program Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for our growing National Educator Cohorts & Online Learning Community (400+ members). The Professional Development department is growing. We are focusing on creating engaging and impactful content (social and emotional development, mental health, and wellness) and programs while finding new opportunities to promote the programs and build community and engagement among educators. The Program Manager will take the lead in building deep relationships among the educators in our online community and be innovative and strategic when cultivating new partnerships with educators and schools to promote our program and recruit new members to our community.

The Professional Development Program Manager will be self-motivated, creative, adaptable and flexible as this department adjusts often to different program needs. The ideal candidate will be interested in community design, and has experience and/or is interested in creatively promoting programs and organizing in-person and online events. Beyond Differences Educator Cohorts and Online Learning Community are spaces where educators come together to learn practical skills, knowledge, and strategies to empower their students to end social isolation and create cultures of belonging. We currently run three Educator Cohorts in the San Francisco/Bay Area, New York City, & Dallas, TX. Cohort sessions are run virtually.

Postion Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships/Educator Outreach & Recruitment (40%)

  • Launch new and innovative strategies to recruit educators in our Online Learning Community & Educator Cohort
  • Create and execute strategies to support current members and cultivate opportunities for engagement within our online community
  • Create engaging copy, emails, social media that are on-brand and consistent with our mission
  • Manage the Professional Development Program communications calendar and timeline to promote opportunities for educators
  • Continually update and expand our educational contacts and partnerships
  • Coordinate, based on contracts & state guidelines, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for educators

Online Learning Community Manager and Educator Cohort Session Support (40%)

  • Attend and coordinate logistics for online and in-person learning sessions
  • Support session follow-up correspondence (i.e. Youtube editing, thank you emails, and collect participant quotes)
  • Create and be flexible when alternative plans or pivots are necessary due to on-going changes in program needs
  • Engage with participants & monitor activity
  • Design, upload and manage content on the Online Learning platform
  • Support the Director of Education to evaluate the engagement of the Online Learning Community & Educator Cohort members and develop ideas to promote more engagement.

Data Management/ Reporting (20%)

  • Maintain accurate and consistent educator data across all platforms (Constant Contact, Salesforce & the Online Learning Community)
  • Create a monthly summary that reports attendance/sign-ups metrics and other key program indicators to measure and access progress
  • Support the Director of Education with grant deliverables, deadlines and report metrics
  • Distribute & collect pre & post-participation surveys through Salesforce
  • Collaborate with the Data Manager to customize the Professional Development data system

Essential Qualifications

  • Collaborate with the Data Manager to customize the Professional Development data system
  • Creative & strategic thinker
  • Detail-oriented approach with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and people)
  • Proficiency in hosting Zoom meetings/webinars
  • Demonstrated will and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems & technology (i.e Google Drive, Microsoft, Canva, etc.)
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn social media engagement strategies (to support Social Media Coordinator)
  • Coordination/event planning experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate resides in San Francisco Bay Area (exceptions may be made)
  • Communications/marketing experience
  • Experience creating and executing new programs
  • Program recruitment
  • Experience working with diverse populations- AA/Black, Latino/Hispanic, low-income, immigrant communities
  • Familiar working with educators, administrators, and school environments
  • 3+ years of experience working with students (preferably 5th-8th grade) in school or after-school
  • 3+ years of program management experience
  • Bilingual

Work Environment

  • Must be willing to work remotely
  • Must be able to manually operate and use a computer and phone
  • Must be able to work at a computer for a prolonged period of time
  • Must have a healthy work from home area with reliable internet
  • Involves out-of-state travel ( about 3-4 x per year to visit cities where we have cohort members)
  • Involves local travel to schools and/or program meetings
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changes (“start-up” type of department – expect changes)

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt, at-will position with a 90-day new employee introductory period. The hourly rate range for this position is $28.85 to $31.25 per hour (towards an annual salary range of $60,000 to $65,000).
