Director of Youth Programming

Full-time

Marin County, CA

Position Overview

The Director of Youth Programming is responsible for two developing programs 1) developing and launching the National Teen Board, a network of high school students from across the country and, 2) implementing a pilot program in a cohort of 5 – 10 middle schools that will include supervising six AmeriCorps members in its first year. The Director of Youth Programming will oversee this launch including development, program creation, implementation, and evaluation. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

National Teen Board (40%)

● Supervise current SF Bay Area and Portland Teen Board leaders and staff as they
transition to the National Teen Board model
● Manage the launch of the National Teen Board program
● Plan and create a national activism campaign with Teen Board input
● Lead the design and planning of the first annual Teen Board Training Conference
● Advance the strategic plan and set goals for department
● Ability to empower youth and create/facilitate safe spaces for youth to engage
● Energize youth activism and promote student-led projects & committees

Young Adult Partnership Program (40%)

● Oversee and supervise six AmeriCorps members for our middle school pilot program in Year 1
● Co-create Beyond Differences SEL and leadership programs for in-school and
after-school time to advance our strategic plan
● Co-facilitate professional development workshops for AmeriCorps members
● Collaborate and manage relationships with existing school partners to monitor
AmeriCorps member experiences and advance program goals
● Attend routine check-ins with AmeriCorps members and teaching staff
● Oversee program data collection for compliance with Measurements and Evaluation responsibilities

Existing Program Management and New Opportunities (20%)

● Manage existing Regional Program staff and oversee Regional Teen Board activities
● Manage all speaking requests and public relations opportunities for youth leaders
● Write and manage all conference speaking submissions and applications
● Provide input on curriculum and professional development programs where needed

Preferred Qualifications

● Associate or Director-level experience
● Program management experience preferably launching new programs and implementation
● Super talented youth program or camp leader (or similar)
● Strong facilitation and speaking/presentation skills
● Experience working with educators, family members, community leaders, school officials and volunteers

Essential Qualifications

● Graduate Degree in Education (or similar)
● Classroom teaching experience
● Experience leading and engaging teens/young adults in programming (specifically ages 11 to 18)
● Supervisory experience
● Program management experience
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe DC, Google Drive, and Zoom
● Access to a laptop computer with reliable internet
● Ability and commitment to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic organization
● Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions

Work Environment

● Must be able to work remotely and/or in an office environment.
● Must be able to manually operate and use a computer and phone.
● Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time.
● May involve up to 10% travel, access to a vehicle is required.
● Must reside in the Bay Area, CA.

Compensation and Benefits

Beyond Differences provides a competitive compensation and benefits package. Benefits include full health insurance, paid vacation, holiday and sick time as well as access to a 403(b)-retirement plan. This position has a competitive salary range of 100K-110K, based upon experience.

Database & Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Administrative and Data/Comms Manager
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Marin County in September 2021 (remote work to start)


Position Overview 
end social isolation, loneliness, and build community.  Our newest (and growing) program area is Professional Development for Educators to support them with their own, and in turn their students, social emotional needs and mental health and wellness.

We are looking for a well-organized, self-starter who is excited to join a dynamic team of staff and volunteers to help us reach our goals as envisioned by the Board and Co-founders of the organization. 

Under the supervision of Beyond Differences’ Administrative and Data/Comms Manager, the Database and Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the database, programs, and general administration. This is a full-time position and located in Marin County. The candidate must be self-directed, mature, easy-going, efficient and flexible as some meetings and events will take place on weekends and evenings.

Database Support (50%) 

  • Helping to maintain Beyond Differences’ Salesforce NPSP database.
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and reliable data in our Salesforce NSPS for our national programs and professional development – including school information and educator contact information as received from Form Assembly
  • Maintain current Salesforce automation projects (Process Builder, Flow Builder, and Form Assembly)
  • Assist with custom report building within Salesforce NSPS, Apsona, and Data Loader
  • Assist with maintaining donor information and donation entries
  • Assist with email segmentation through Constant Contact
  • Maintain database’s current custom fields and pages, build out new page customizations for future projects as needed
  • Provide support in completing Salesforce integrations with various platforms (including Constant Contact)
  • Provide support with Chatter and User Customization
  • Export weekly Salesforce back-ups into Google Drive

Administrative Support (25%) 

  • Manage all general office support including staffing phones, preparing for meetings, ordering supplies, managing technology set-up and coordinating deliveries.
  • Support donor communications including acknowledgment and thank you letters.
  • Process weekly mail and maintain checklog and maintain documentation tracking systems. 
  • Coordinate printing projects such as letterhead, invites, flyers and posters while maintaining a supply of collateral materials.
  • Generate internal emails for special mailings and event/meeting invitations.
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising events.
  • Provide administrative support for travel, donor meetings and public speaking engagements.

Program Support (25%) 

  • Provide support to the Director of Youth Programming by maintaining the youth leadership contact lists, permission slips for retreats and other field trips, and other administrative support needed. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • NPSP-specific Salesforce experience 

Essential Qualifications

  • 2 years of nonprofit work experience
  • 1+ year of Salesforce experience
  • B.A. or equivalent required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe DC, Google Drive, and Zoom
  • Access to a laptop computer with reliable internet access
  • Self-motivated, mature, strategic thinker and well-organized
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic organization

Program Coordinator

Start Date: Summer 2021

Reports To: Director of National Programs
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Marin County in September 2021 (remote work to start)

The ideal candidate for the Program Coordinator position is a well-organized, self-starter who is excited to join a dynamic nonprofit organization and motivated to have a career in education and/or youth leadership.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of Beyond Differences’ Director of National Programs, the Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of our National Programs (Know Your Classmates, No One Eats Alone and Be Kind Online) which includes assisting with school database management, volunteer coordination, printing shipping labels, packing, and shipping boxes to teachers across the country, support with vendor relations, and general administration. This is a part-time position located in Marin County. The candidate must be self-directed, mature, easy-going, efficient, and flexible as occasional meetings and events will take place on weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Programmatic Administrative & Data Support

  • Process all new school/educator sign-ups in coordination with BD’s database and administrative assistant.
  • Oversee storage, shipping and receiving of national program supplies.
  • Coordinate delivery and storage of all supplies for national programs.
  • Support Director of National Programs in vendor management (USPS, graphic designers, various suppliers).
  • Coordinate with communications team to organize, manage and pull data.
  • Print shipping labels.
  • Assist Director of National Programs in communication with educators.
  • Create branded Google slide decks and slide shows for curriculum, various events and presentations.
  • Assist in Zoom tech support for Webinars.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Assist in managing, coordinating, recruiting, and scheduling volunteers.
  • Strategically schedule volunteers for efficiency.
  • Oversee volunteers for quality control.
  • Prepare office and packing supplies for volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer events.
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with volunteers.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating volunteer appreciation party.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Products, and Zoom.
  • Access to a laptop computer with reliable internet access.
  • Self-motivated, mature, strategic thinker and well-organized.
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic organization.
