True to our mission of infusing youth voice in everything we do, this curriculum has been created by our National Teen Board for middle school students grades 5th – 8th.

Please enjoy and use as much as you can.

CIRV: Centering Immigrant & Refugee Voices

Our CIRV curriculum was created by Beyond Differences’ National Teen Board members who are immigrant and refugee youth with first-hand knowledge of these struggles. Each of the lessons and activities focus on real-world strategies that help nurture a sense of belonging.

Special thanks to the Centering Immigrant & Refugee Voices Youth Committee of our National Teen Board: Angel, Avery, Cesar, Cris, Dominick, Fayyaz, Helen, India, Inga, Jack, Kiki, Nury, and Tejvir.

Redefining Disability Event

Did you know that 1 in 4 schoolchildren in the United States identifies as a refugee or immigrant? They have to overcome not only language barriers but cultural and social barriers that often make it difficult to create community and connection within their new home.

Our CIRV curriculum includes:

    • History of Immigrants & Refugees in America
    • Common Microaggressions against immigrants and refugees and how to handle them
    • Be a policy maker – how to work with schools to create an inclusive community for refugees and immigrants
    • Art Project writing letters connecting students to ancestors and future generations.
